Japan: An Update

leave a comment »

According to Yahoo! News yesterday, the death toll in Japan is at 10,000 and rising. This is clearly turning into a major global incident. Although I do not necessarily agree with President Obama on every issue, I do agree that it is in our best humanitarian interest to support Japan in any way that we can. However, I do not believe that simply sending an aircraft carrier to Japan and expecting everything to turn out okay is the best option.

Normally I would suggest that we keep to ourselves and focus on our own problems before trying to solve the problems of others. This catastrophe calls for action. Please, call around and ask what you can do to help. Be careful, though: there are always scam artists who try to take advantage kind-hearted people in times of need.

Also, please keep the people of Japan in your thoughts and prayers.

As always, I look forward to reading your comments and suggestions.

A Tragedy in Japan

leave a comment »

I didn’t plan on having another post today, but I thought I should extend my thoughts and prayers to those affected by the 8.9 earhquake and tsunami early this morning. Several have died, and many more (from what I’ve heard) are still missing. Please keep the good people of Japan in your prayers. This is a time when we need to stand together as not only a nation, but as a planet. The damage in Japan may take a long time to fix, and the lives lost can never be restored, but if we work together we can accomplish great things.

Thank you.
